How much does Resy charge restaurants?

Resy charges 289 or 459 USD a month, with no per-cover fees. Platform and Essential are 289 USD, Platform 360 and Premium are 459 USD. The two Tock-powered plans, Essential and Premium, add event ticketing and take 3% or 2% of prepayments. Card processing is charged on top on every plan.

That is a fair price for a busy dining room that uses the Resy app to find new guests. It is a lot for a neighborhood restaurant whose tables fill from its own website, its Google profile and people who already know the owner. Those restaurants pay for a diner network they barely use.

The table puts Resy's published plans next to ours. Both sides are list prices per venue, before tax and card processing.

Resy figures are from its official plans and pricing page. Reserving prices are monthly list prices, and yearly billing takes Core to 39 USD and Growth to 119 USD a month. Core covers up to 300 bookings a month; Growth has no booking limit.

What a year costs on Resy and on Reserving

Take a 60-seat neighborhood restaurant that takes deposits for parties of six or more and texts reminders. On Resy it needs Platform at 289 USD a month, which is 3,468 USD a year. On Reserving it needs Growth at 149 USD a month, which is 1,788 USD a year, or 1,428 USD billed yearly. The difference is 1,680 to 2,040 USD a year for the same job on the floor.

A restaurant that sells a prepaid tasting menu feels the prepayment fee as well. On Essential, 8,000 USD a month of prepaid tickets costs 240 USD in Resy's 3% fee before card processing, close to 2,900 USD a year. Premium lowers that to 2%, but the plan costs 170 USD a month more. A small place taking under 300 bookings a month and no deposits can run on Core for 588 USD a year.

What moves across from Resy

The tools a host uses every service, on one board, with the booking page on your own domain and the guest list in your hands.

  • A booking widget on your website, styled to match it, plus booking links for Google and Instagram
  • Table and floor board with turn times and buffers, so one table is never promised twice
  • Guest records with visit history, notes and allergies, exportable any day
  • Deposit and card-hold rules by party size, day part and service, on Growth
  • SMS reminders with two-way confirm and cancel, and a waiting queue that refills cancelled slots
  • A walk-in queue with a quoted wait time, the same list your host already keeps on paper

What is better than Resy?

For a restaurant that needs new diners from an app, not much: Resy's network and its American Express tie-in are the product. For a restaurant that fills from regulars, its own site and Google, a flat per-venue system does the same book for less than half the price, and you keep the guest relationship on your own domain.

Stay on Resy if

  • A real share of your covers are first visits that came through the Resy app
  • American Express cardholder perks and priority access bring you guests
  • You sell ticketed events every week and want Tock's ticketing in the same plan
  • Your POS integration is already built around Resy

In those cases you are buying demand, and 289 USD a month can be cheap for it.

Choose Reserving if

  • Most bookings come from your website, your Google profile, Instagram or the phone
  • You need deposits and reminders, not a consumer app
  • You want a published price and a same-day start without an application
  • You run one to five venues and want them on one board at a known cost

Here the network is cost you carry without using, and a flat plan removes it.

How do I switch from Resy without losing bookings?

Export future reservations and guest notes, set up your room, import, and move every booking button before you close availability on Resy. Keep Resy open for one service so no guest who booked there is lost.

  1. 01

    Check your terms

Look up your Resy agreement for the term end date and the notice period, and pick the service you will cut over on.

  2. 02

    Export your data

Download future reservations and guest profiles with visit notes, allergies and tags. Keep the file; it is your guest list.

  3. 03

Enter tables, seats, turn times per party size, buffers, service windows and deposit rules. A twenty-table room takes an afternoon.

  4. 04

Import bookings and guests by CSV, paste the widget on your site, and point your Google profile and Instagram at your booking page. Then close new availability on Resy.

FAQ

Questions restaurants ask before leaving Resy

See pricing
Does Resy charge per cover?

No. Resy states that its pricing has no per-cover fees. You pay a monthly plan of 289 or 459 USD, card processing, and on the Tock-powered Essential and Premium plans a 3% or 2% fee on prepayments. Reserving has no cover fee either, and its plans start at 49 USD per venue a month.

Is Resy cheaper than OpenTable?

For most busy restaurants, yes. OpenTable charges 149 to 499 USD a month plus 1.00 to 1.50 USD per network cover, so a room seating 1,200 network covers pays well over 1,000 USD a month. Resy's 289 USD plan has no cover fee. Our OpenTable pricing breakdown works both out at three sizes.

Who owns Resy?

American Express owns Resy. It bought Resy in 2019 and later acquired Tock, which now runs inside the Resy network as the engine for the Essential and Premium plans. For a restaurant, that brings Amex cardholder perks and a diner app, which is what the monthly fee pays for.

Is Tock part of Resy?

Yes. Tock is now part of the Resy network under American Express. Resy sells two Tock-powered plans, Essential at 289 USD and Premium at 459 USD a month, which add event ticketing and charge 3% or 2% on prepayments. Our Resy pricing article covers all four plans.

Can I take deposits without Resy?

Yes. On Reserving Growth, at 149 USD per venue a month, you set deposit and card-hold rules by party size, day part and service, and charge no-shows under your own policy. We take no percentage of deposits; the payment provider charges its normal card processing, as it does on any system.

How fast can a restaurant start on Reserving?

The same day. Create an account, pay by card, enter your tables, turn times and service windows, and paste the booking widget on your site. There is no application or demo call, and the live demo at the top of this page runs the same engine on a sample restaurant.
