Acuity Scheduling pricing and Acuity pricing plans, with the cost by team size
For clinic, studio and service business owners pricing a scheduling system.
Acuity Scheduling costs 20, 34 or 61 USD a month on its Starter, Standard and Premium plans, or 16, 27 and 49 USD a month billed yearly. The plan is set by the number of calendars: 1 on Starter, up to 6 on Standard and up to 36 on Premium. Text reminders start on Standard, HIPAA support on Premium, and card fees go to Stripe, Square or PayPal. Enterprise is quoted for larger teams.
How much does Acuity Scheduling cost per month?
Acuity Scheduling costs 16 to 61 USD a month for a normal small business, depending on how many calendars you need and whether you pay yearly. These are the prices on Acuity's own plans page, in USD, before sales tax.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | Calendars | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 20 USD | 16 USD a month | 1 | unlimited services and appointments, email confirmations and reminders, intake forms, online payments |
| Standard | 34 USD | 27 USD a month | up to 6 | text reminders, waitlist, packages, memberships and gift certificates |
| Premium | 61 USD | 49 USD a month | up to 36 | HIPAA business associate agreement, staff and locations in several time zones, custom API and CSS, Acuity branding removed |
| Enterprise | quote | quote | large teams | dedicated account management, several accounts under one bill |
Prices and plan features are from Acuity Scheduling's plans page. Yearly billing saves about 20%. Every plan starts with a 7-day trial without a card, and there is no free plan.
What counts as a calendar on Acuity?
A calendar is one bookable schedule, usually one staff member. If you also book a room, a chair or a piece of equipment as its own schedule, that is another calendar. The calendar count is the line that moves your bill, so count everything clients book before you pick a plan.
The jumps are steep in one place. A solo practitioner fits Starter. The second person moves you to Standard, which then holds up to six. The seventh calendar moves you to Premium, almost doubling the bill from 34 to 61 USD a month, even if you never use HIPAA or the API.
Does Acuity Starter include text reminders?
No. Starter sends confirmations and reminders by email only; text message reminders begin on Standard at 34 USD a month (27 USD yearly). For most appointment businesses that makes Standard the real entry price, because a text the day before is the cheapest no-show fix there is. Email reminders alone get opened late or not at all.
What are Acuity's payment fees?
Acuity takes payments through Stripe, Square or PayPal, and the card fee is whatever that processor charges you. Acuity's plans page lists no payment fee of its own. You can ask for full payment or a deposit at booking, on every plan.
| Cost | Who charges it | Typical amount |
|---|---|---|
| Online card payment | Stripe, Square or PayPal | about 2.9% + 0.30 USD per payment on standard US rates |
| Sales tax on the plan | Acuity | by state, added to the plan price |
| Seventh calendar | Acuity | 27 USD more a month (Standard to Premium, monthly) |
| Website | separate | Acuity is a scheduler; the site is built elsewhere and embeds it |
On 8,000 USD a month of online payments at an average of 80 USD, processing comes to about 262 USD, the same on Acuity as on any tool using those processors. That is not the number to compare. The calendar count and what each plan switches on are.
Is Acuity HIPAA compliant?
Acuity signs a business associate agreement (BAA) on Premium and Enterprise only, so a therapy practice, clinic or med spa storing health details in intake forms needs at least the 61 USD plan (49 USD yearly). A BAA covers the scheduler. The rest of your HIPAA program, policies, training and vendor reviews, still sits with you, and a compliance management tool that tracks those obligations is a separate purchase.
Acuity cost by business size
Here is a realistic monthly bill at four sizes, on monthly billing with text reminders switched on, next to what the same business pays on a booking system priced per location.
| Business | Acuity plan | Per month | Billed yearly | Reserving |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo coach or therapist | Standard, for texts | 34 USD | 27 USD | 49 USD on Core, no SMS |
| 4-person studio | Standard | 34 USD | 27 USD | 149 USD on Growth, 74 USD yearly |
| Clinic with 5 staff and 3 rooms | Premium (8 calendars) | 61 USD | 49 USD | 149 USD on Growth, 74 USD yearly |
| 3 locations, 15 staff | Premium | 61 USD | 49 USD | 499 USD on Multi-Venue, 249 USD yearly |
Acuity is cheaper at every size on plan price, and we would not tell a solo practitioner otherwise. For a calendar that clients book and a deposit at checkout, it is good value. The question is what you pay for in the gap.
Is Acuity Scheduling worth it?
Acuity is worth it for solo practitioners, coaches, consultants and small studios that need clients to book, pay and fill in a form online. It is less of a fit once the schedule depends on shared rooms or stations, deposits that change by service and day, or several venues reported together, because Acuity books calendars rather than running a front desk.
That is the gap a venue booking system fills. On appointment scheduling software built for clinics, every appointment blocks the practitioner and the room with turnaround time, deposit and card-hold rules apply by service length, weekday and first visit, clients confirm or cancel by replying to a text, and a freed slot goes to the next person on the waiting queue. Spas that share treatment rooms will find the same setup on spa scheduling software.
Acuity vs Square Appointments vs Calendly on price
Three tools come up in nearly every Acuity comparison. Prices are monthly list prices for a business with four bookable people.
- Acuity Standard: 34 USD (27 yearly), up to 6 calendars, texts included, payments through Stripe, Square or PayPal.
- Square Appointments: a free tier, then Plus at 49 USD per location for no-show fees and waitlist, unlimited staff, Square's own processing. Full breakdown in our Square Appointments pricing guide.
- Calendly: priced per seat and built for meetings between people rather than services with lengths and prices, so four people pay four seats.
For a salon rather than a clinic, the usual shortlist is different; see Vagaro pricing and GlossGenius pricing.
Questions to ask before you choose Acuity
- How many calendars will you have in a year, counting rooms and equipment as well as people
- Do you need text reminders (Standard) or a BAA (Premium) from day one
- Should the deposit change by service, weekday or for first-time clients
- Will you open a second location, and do you need its numbers reported with the first
- Can you export every client, appointment and form answer whenever you want
The same questions apply to any booking system, ours included. Plan details are on pricing.
